Alvin's Asian-Style Burger

Alvin Leung's take on the classic burger.


Burger Mixture:

1½ lb ground pork
2     eggs beaten
4     scallions, thinly sliced
2 tsp   fresh ginger, finely grated 
1     red chili, deseeded and finely chopped
3 tbsp  finely chopped salted peanuts
1 tsp    sesame oil 
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Asian Slaw:

1 cup     shredded nappa cabbage
1 cup     shredded red cabbage
1     red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1     large carrot, 
3     chopped green onions,
¼ cup     chopped fresh cilantro


¼ cup       rice wine vinegar
3 tbsp       peanut oil
3 tbsp       creamy peanut butter
1 tbsp       soy sauce
1 tbsp       fish sauce
1 tsp         brown sugar 
Makes: 6


In a large bowl mix all burger ingredients.  Use the burger mixture to form six 6 ounce patties.

Cook on the grill (medium-high) until cooked through (5 to 7 minutes or 160 on an instant read thermometer.)

In a medium bowl toss Asian slaw ingredients together.  Mix Dressing ingredients till smooth and pour over slaw mixture. Toss till combined. 

Serve burger on a sesame seed bun, topped with Asian Slaw.  Enjoy!
