MasterChef Canada Frequently Asked Questions


What is the minimum age requirement?
Applicants must be nineteen (19) years of age by October 10th, 2017 to apply.

Do I need to be a Canadian Citizen? 
You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.

When will I find out if I make it onto the show?
If your application makes it to the next round you will be contacted by our Casting Team by phone or email in August or September 2017

Will I be contacted regardless of whether or not I make it to the next round?
Due to the large amount of submissions, we are unable to contact each applicant. Only applications moving forward will be contacted.

Is there a cost to submit an application?
NO.  There is no fee to submit an application.  You just need to follow the How to Apply instructions on this site.

When will the fifth season of MasterChef Canada be filmed?
The fifth MasterChef Canada season will be filmed in the fall of 2017.  Participants will need to be available from early-October until late November 2017 (to be determined by Producer in its sole discretion) to participate.

If I opt to make a video, do I need to have a professional video made?
No.  Videos are not required.  However, if you choose to submit a video you can make your own video with the help of your friends and family.  Or you can just make your video on your smartphone or web camera. For specific help on making a good video see our Video Tips. Please ensure your video does not include background music of any kind. 

I am not able to upload my video, are there any special requirements to do so?
Please ensure your video and photos combined are less than 75MB. The video needs to be in one of the following file formats: mpg, mpeg, flv, avi,mp4, mov, 3gp, wmv, mv4.

What if I have questions about the Online Agreement and Release?
Please be sure to read the Online Agreement and Release in full before submitting your Application.  If you have specific questions please consult legal counsel at your own expense.
